Mike Davies Field
Located just west of the concession stand at the PBO ball fields. This field is used by the 7 and 8 year old pinto division. The bases are 60 feet and the mound is 40 feet. It is 132 feet down the left field line, 132 feet to center field and 136 feet down the right field line.Mike Davies coached kids’ teams at PBO for nearly two decades. On June 28th, 1996, PBO dedicated the Pinto baseball field in his name to honor his years of dedication to the association. It all started in 1979 when Davies long time friend Bob Ellsworth asked him to help coach. As Bob moved up with his older boys, Mike continued to coach in the Pinto division and watched as the Palos Baseball Organization grow from 300 kids to over 60 team in the four divisions. He was widely known for his sports reporting of the PBO teams and their games in the league for the local newspapers. It was a major highlight for the kids to get their names in the paper. Mike had tremendous fun thru the years teaching the kids baseball and watching them improve from the first day they showed up at the ball fields.
